New Poems & Site Updates

The humorous poems featured in the main section of Peculiar Poetry are all original works written by Patrick Winstanley since 2002. However, the size and scope of the site increase dramatically in April 2006 when Paul Curtis came on board as Peculiar Poetry's first guest poet. Paul is an established poet who has been writing various different forms of poetry for over 20 years. He has an large back catalogue of funny poems which will be gradually added to the site, as well as his new funny poems and collections of romantic poems and serious poetry. It is hoped to update the site with new poems every few months.

September 2010

Funny and Scary Halloween Poems

A new selection of funny, dirty and scary halloween poems by the usual suspects, Paul Curtis, Patrick Winstanley and Max Scratchmann.

Funny Poems about Love and Lust

Max's inaugural collection of funny poems about love, lust, licentiousness and lesbianism.

Nostalgic Funny Poems

Put on those rose tinted spectacles to revisit past triumphs and traumas. Well, Max's at least.

Funny Medical Poems

An infectiously funny collection of Max's outrageous medical poems and nonsense verse.

Dirty Poems

A further collection of funny dirty poems from the pen of poet in residence Paul Curtis.

April 2010

Nonsense Verse

Max makes his debut as guest poet with a collection which is strong on nonsense verse...

Clean Funny Poems

...but also features poems suitable for anyone with an oblique sense of humour.

Poems about Fame

A mix of Max's funny poems about famous figures and the pursuit of fame itself.

Rude Nursery Rhymes

Nursery rhyme parodies which are unconventional and occasionally dirty.

Funny Sex Poems

A new selection of Paul's sex poems, which are explicit, prurient, but above all funny.

September 2009

A second collection of Paul's Nursery Rhyme Parodies, taking the cannon to 75, plus a few new additions to the Funny Halloween Poems. Roll on Christmas, because there are some crackers to come!

August 2009

A new collection of 21st Century Nursery Rhymes by Paul Curtis. The 37 poems are parodies of traditional English nursery rhymes; some are funny, some are both funny and rude, but all have an essentially subversive quality and a touch of the whimsical.

March 2009

We've doing the splits, banishing the romantic love poems to a new dedicated site, but keeping the existing funny love poems on here Peculiar Poetry. Although there's not much visible above the surface, there are lots of changes taking place under the bonnet which will make it easier to maintain the site on a day to day basis. Once completed, I've around 100 new funny poems to put up, so the spring is pregnant with promise for poetry lovers.

Christmas 2007

A collection of new Christmas poems by Paul Curtis, which includes funny Christmas poems, dirty christmas poems, poems about Christmas' origins and traditions, religious Christmas poems and, inevitably, a few mixed Christmas poems which wouldn't fit the neat little classification as intended.

November 2007

A warm welcome to our new guest poet, Topoke, and his initial selection of funny poems, which range in intensity from light verse to disgustingly dirty poetry. A versatile and often surprising poetic talent!

September 2007

I've been busy building a completely new site for my funny children's poetry, which means it's been a while since the last major update. This one is a bit different from the norm, in that it introduces a completely new section of Paul Curtis' very short poems. There are 20 new, funny poems which have been selected for their brevity and wit and categorised, somewhat simplistically, as short love poems, short poems about life, short poems about death and short sex poems. There may even be time for a quick, pre-Christmas update as well.

March 2007

A somewhat overdue update for the site, but a bumper one with over 50 new poems added. There have been additions to Paul Curtis' collections of humorous poems and funny poems about life, and you'll find (without having to search too hard) a few particularly filthy new poems buried amidst the dirty poetry. In addition, Paul's collection of funny poetry has a news section devoted to funny poems about sport which covers all the usual sports and a few rather unusual ones as well. A less radical update of the romantic poetry section, but some readers will be panting in anticipation at the arrival of five new erotic poems and there are also a couple of additions to the collection of romantic poetry.

At the same time there has been a reorganisation to Patrick's funny poetry collection to create a new section for rude poems. Although some of the poems are transfers from different categories, there are five new and really quite rude poems about subjects ranging from vaginoplasty to masturbation.

October 2006

A further thirty of Paul's poems were added to the site, including new collections of romantic poems and humorous love poems, together with additions to his collections of poems about life, English poems, funny love poems and dirty poems.

Added at the same time were three new, unpublished poems by Patrick Winstanley - Library Rules is a rhyming poem about libraries (and the sorry state they're in), The ABC of Fruitiness is a slightly risque example of funny alphabet poetry and Tickled Pink is one amongst literally thousands of funny christmas poems which will be rushed onto poetry websites in the run up to the festive season. I don't really do Christmas or Christmas poetry, but as it's a poem about a fairy on a Christmas tree, it's a bit difficult to pass it off as anything else. Perhaps I should have published it in February to capture the misanthropic market.

April 2006

The guest poetry section was added to the site and with it an initial selection of work by Peculiar Poetry's first guest poet, Paul Curtis, which included collections of funny poems, very short poems and dirty poetry.
